From gameworld to the streets

May 22nd, 2009 admin No comments

From gameworld to movie screens we’ve seen plenty lately, but to the streets, from a virtual concept do a real vehicle production, well, that’s news for me.

Citroën not only decided to place a chip or two on the GT model, created by Polyphony for the Gran Turismo 5, but will also produce a very limited edition for sale. The car is powered by an electric engine with hydrogen as fuel.

It had already been shown in Paris October last year, but this is the first time that the public will be able to see it rolling, as a special guest in motor events in Germany, England and Le Mans (you know, the 24-hour race) in France.

Project M was revealed yesterday at Shanghai Autoshow, a partnership between Pininfarina studio and designer Jason Castriota, which already produced cars like Ferrari, Maserati and Rolls Royce.

Nevertheless, there’s much more to Project M than the beauty and design that meet the eye. Under the hood, a Corvette ZR1, 0-60mph in less than 4 seconds and with a top speed of 217mph. Check out a teaser video:

Hell of a way to promote your store and give a rock look to your store’s boring grate.

And since it’s Friday and we’re in the music mood:

Rock on!

There was this post we did on bikes a few months ago, but all of them had one thing in common: you had to pedal.

So Vietnamese student Truong Minh Nhat presented this design for an electric bike that can go as fast as 30 km/h, foldable, runs for 2h with a charge and should have its weight down to 10 kg. Named Capella, after the greek mythology star, the bike has all intellectual property rights and the dude is now looking for partners to produce and market it.

More design posts here and here.

Green city

Here’s the project that the dutch architecture office MVRDV presented and won a competition to build a environment-friendly city center in South Korea. It should start the construction in 2011 and the city will have approximately 80 thousand inhabitants.

I’ve seen people clapping, since the area will be self sufficient, and others criticizing due to people’s inability to live in ‘beehives’, etc. More info here. Have your say.

Green technology

You can have internet access in the park, at the beach or in the woods, all you need is this WiFi solar panel by Meraki. Just place it under the sun and bingo, wireless access to everybody in a thousand feet area. Best of all, no need for any plugs whatsoever.

Also thinking about the future of our planet, Honda presented the FC Sport, a totally hydrogen-powered car. Very different form the concept-cars we used to see in the past. Check out the machine’s design:

After this and this post, here we go for another one of visionary people who create for the future.

Designer Tai Chiem posted on this blog his vision for PSP. If Sony wanted to have a portable game, Tai took that concept to a whole new level. Check it out:

Nokia Store Launching

October 20th, 2008 Nato No comments

Last Saturday I was invited to visit the first Brazilian Nokia Store, on Oscar Freire 846, Sao Paulo.

The first impression was very good. I thought the store was very interesting. It’s a small place, but very well organized and up to date, where you breathe technology and design all over.

The store follows the already established models of Nokia around the world. Of course there are a few things missing, like the phones not yet sold in Brazil. Anyway, it’s worth a visit, let’s wait and check the results.

See our photos on Flickr.

Check out the new concept-bike that Honda displayed at the Intermot in Germany. V4 comes to celebrate the 30 years of the 4-cilinder Hondas.

Any similarity to automotive aliens that transform is not a coincidence…
