It’s been expected for some time now, but it hadn’t become real over here. So now Samsung announced a deal with Terra (Brazil’s biggest internet portal) to offer content directly on some TV models already available in stores – the ones that have the Internet@TV feature.
Internet access is provided via network cable or USB WiFI, minimum speed of 1Mb. The content, which will be exclusive to Samsung models for one year, include Sports, World news, Technology, weather forecast and Entertainment.
Terra videos and special content about the 2010 World Cup are next. You can also watch YouTube videos and customize your widgets, adding new ones and having new features according to your preferences.
Earlier this year we talked about a company in Israel that planned to market a dvd with a capacity of 1 TB. Compared to the 4.7 GB of current discs, that’s a whole lot more.
Well, Aussie researchers declared they’ve made a 1.6 TB disc by using nanostructures and creating an extra dimension on it. This process can be used to create discs up to 10 TB, which is about 2,200 “normal” dvds.
Researchers have already made a deal with Samsung. More info here.
South Korean scientists from Samsung announced great progress in flex electronics, even though it will take some time before we can see its applications in our daily life.
The new thing is a flexible film that brings electrodes from a chemical reaction between nickel and carbon, forming a compound called graphene (more details about the process here). The result? An extremely thin layer, almost transparent, with excellent electrical properties and that is resistant to folding and stretching.
The applications may vary from clothes and products that have information on themselves or their packages to full foldable screens for tvs, notebooks, etc.
Yeah, we know that flip cell phones are not new. But this is, ‘cause it brings an OLED screen. Check out the prototype Samsung showed in Japan this week:
It should take some time before it makes to the shelves, but it’s an indication that the current 2-inch screens are about to become history.
You know that post we made one of these days about Sony Ericsson’s campaign promoting their new cell with a 8.1 megapixel camera? Well, it looks like Samsung got ahead in the game e did something, let’s say, more professional.
The company, due to the launching of the Pixon model, hired the professional photographer Nick Turpin to travel around Europe taking pics with the phone. The cool thing is that you get to choose what the dude will shoot, by visiting this site and voting for the next theme. The pics can be seen on Flickr.
